FAQ

How much playing time will my child receive?

Playing time is based on multiple factors, including performance and team needs. We believe every child should have an opportunity to play, and we hope that all players are skilled enough so that playing time becomes a non-issue.

What if my child cannot attend tryouts?

Additional tryout day(s) may be added as needed, including individual tryouts if necessary.

When will we be notified if my child has made (or not made) the PHD team?

Notifications will be sent out within 3 to 4 days after tryouts.

Will we have more than one team in an age group?

Generally, PHD will maintain only one team per age/grade level. Exceptions may occur if we can reliably field more than one competitive team based on the depth of talent in the age group. Our focus is on maintaining the quality of our program rather than maximizing the number of teams and dollars.

How many players will "make" each team?

Teams will typically have a maximum of 10 players. This number ensures manageable playing time and competitive practice environments.

Can I coach my child's team?

At PHD, we prefer parents to be spectators and cheerleaders. In rare cases, a parent may coach their child's team, provided they are fair and accountable and do not serve as the head coach.

When do the season and practices typically start?

Seasons for high school kids usually begin in late March and continue until July, with limited activities in June. Practices are held twice a week in Oshkosh starting in the middle of March. Neenah and Appleton are other possibilities for practice.

Do I have to pay all fees at once?

Payment installments are available. However, all payments must be completed before January 1.

Will the program cover travel expenses?

Unfortunately, parents are responsible for all travel costs. If a player needs assistance with transportation, they should inform their coach, who will help arrange it.

How does the program help my child get recruited?

We emphasize strategic regional recruitment strategies because we believe traveling to places like California, Texas, and Florida is unnecessary for 99.9% of athletes. Are you serious about playing college basketball or just looking for a vacation? If your goal is to play at the collegiate level, showcasing your skills to coaches in your region is crucial. College coaches in California have access to a large pool of local talent, and data shows that they typically recruit athletes closer to home. So, are you genuinely committed to pursuing college basketball, or are you simply interested in a vacation? We plan to compete in Illinois, Minnesota, Milwaukee, and nearby states where our kids can play top athletes and be seen by college coaches.

Refunds?

No refunds will be provided. By making your down payment, you are committing to securing a roster spot for your child.
